KIDS IN THE COLD
– Charger Foundation suit up needy kids –
Feb. 13, 2006 — The Charger Foundation is charging in to help needy and homeless
children in the GTA this winter.
Desperately needy kids who have gone without winter clothing basics this winter now
finally have snowsuits, mitts, gloves and hats, thanks to The Kids Winter Clothing
Program initiated by Windfall Clothing Service, Canada’s only new clothing bank,
The Bargains Group and The Charger Foundation.
Wednesday, February 15 at 11 a.m., at The Windfall Clothing Warehouse, 530
Adelaide Street West Suite 404 (Just W/O Bathurst Street), and The Charger
Foundation will present Windfall Clothing Service with a $12,000 Cheque. The
money will help purchase winter clothing accessories for distribution to family agencies,
including Alexandra Park Community Centre, River Oak Child Centre and St. Felix
Centre. These Social Service Agencies will be present at the presentation to pick
winter clothing for the Kids.
“The snowsuits and winter clothing accessories will go to severely underprivileged
children – most of whose lives are in such turmoil, that they are not even attending
school,” says Helen Harakas, executive director of Windfall Clothing. In the past 5
years, the number of children in Metro emergency shelters has increased by a staggering
